Reaction at Bucks to Kavanaugh’s Confirmation


Bucks students and professors had mixed reactions to the news that Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexual assault while under the influence, was confirmed as the new Supreme Court Justice on Oct 6. Kavanaugh now has life tenure on the most important court in the country.

“He should have been rescinded due to his display of his character during the hearing. He was very aggressive and agitated while sober. What is he like when he’s intoxicated?” said freshman Jennifer Abele.

 But freshman student Lucy Pavlow felt that Kavanaugh shouldn’t have been rescinded until after an investigation was done to decisively prove if the allegations were true or false. Read more.

The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission has a main goal of enforcing state laws that prohibit discrimination such as the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, which covers discrimination in employment, housing, commercial property, education and public accommodations; as well as the Pennsylvania Fair Educational Opportunities Act, which is specific to post secondary education, secondary vocational, and trade schools . The fact that this is not the first lawsuit or legal battle brought against the Neshaminy School District, works to the advantage of the PHRC. Update in Bucks Hacking Scandal

Last November, two Bucks County women were arrested for hacking into the Bucks County Community College computer system to change theirs and other students’ grades. The two women arrested were Kelly Margaret Marryott, a 37-year-old from Yardley employed at a medical office and Aleisha Morosco, a 30-year-old part-time student at Bucks from New Hope. Marryott used her position at a doctor’s office to gain personal information about a professor at Bucks and was able to pass the information to Morosco.    Read more.
